SDSU Ice Hockey and members win "Sports Club of the Year", "Bingham Sport Club Leader of the Year", and "Coach of the Year" Awards
At the annual San Diego State University Sports Club Banquet, SDSU Ice Hockey coach David Hough received the "Coach of the Year" award. Team President and Sports Club Representative Phillip Wong was named the "Bingham Sport Club Leader of the Year", while the team won the coveted "Sports Club of the Year"
award.
Team Meets Fundraiser Goal
With leadership from Club President Phillip Wong, the ice hockey team raised a total of $1,046.82 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We would like to give a HUGE shoutout to all the players, fans, family, and friends who helped support our Rally for Change and meeting our goal!
Fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
SDSU Ice Hockey is holding a charity fundraiser on campus for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Monday April 12th - Thursday April 15th.

All donations made are tax deductible with a receipt provided.

Aztecs upset Utah State, fall short to Eastern Washington
A trip to Greeley, Colorado for the ACHA Western Regional Championships had the SDSU Aztecs ice hockey team on a rollercoaster of a weekend. The #9 ranked Aztecs defeated the #4 Utah State Aggies by an impressive 8-4 tally. The team was one win away from a berth to Nationals in Simsbury, Connecticut, but fell short against a gritty and offensive Eastern Washington University Eagles by a score of 10-5. The team suprised a lot of people with their sucessand hope to take their great skating and goaltending into next season.
Aztecs Ranked 9th in the West!
Last year was the Aztecs first year in Division II and was ranked 10th losing 3-8 to #3 seed Colorado University in the West Region playoff. The Aztecs went through their ups and downs this season and managed to pull off enough wins to put them in the 9th spot in the West Region. They will travel to Greely, Colorado February 26-27th in a single elimination playoff tournament playing the #4 seed Utah State. If they win, the Aztecs will have to win one more game against the winner of the higher seeds to go to nationals in Simsbury, Connecticut.

The Aztecs are prepared for the Spartans after hitting the road to play Arizona State last weekend. ASU is in a higher division than SDSU and proved a worthy opponent, outlasting the Aztecs in two games. Regardless, SDSU played tough all weekend. Full Story

Aztecs off to a strong start!
The SDSU Ice Hockey team won their first game of the season last night among a huge crowd at the Kroc Center. Next week brings two games against long time rivals UNLV - Friday, 9/25/09 at 9:00 pm at the Kroc Center, and Saturday, 9/26/09, at 6:30 pm at Iceoplex in Escondido.
